Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies InkRider uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.
Last updated: June 15, 2026 (version 2026-06-15)
1. Who operates InkRider
This Cookie Policy explains how Inkansen s.r.o., a private limited liability company incorporated under the laws of the Czech Republic, with its registered office at Osadní 932/38, 170 00 Praha 7, Czech Republic, and Business Identification Number (IČO): [IČO NUMBER] (referred to in this policy as "InkRider", "we", "us", or "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on the InkRider website and related services.
For how we handle personal data more broadly, including your rights under the GDPR and other laws, see our Privacy Policy at inkrider.com/privacy.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, remember preferences, and provide usage information to site operators.
Similar browser-based storage technologies include:
Local Storage: A browser key-value store that persists until explicitly cleared by you or the application. InkRider uses local storage on the website to retain interface preferences such as your selected color theme.
Session Storage: Like local storage but scoped to a single browser tab or session. Automatically cleared when the tab or browser window is closed.
Cache Storage and IndexedDB: Browser APIs used to store larger structured data locally. The JupyterLite-based Python runtime in the InkRider Word add-in uses these to cache Python packages and environment state locally in your browser, so that code execution does not require downloading the runtime on every use.
3. Account dashboard authentication (separate site)
Sign-in, registration, and account management run on the InkRider account dashboard (a separate web application from this marketing site). When you use those features, Firebase Authentication (Google Cloud) sets strictly necessary session cookies on the dashboard domain to keep you signed in securely.
Those authentication cookies are not set when you browse this marketing website alone. Because they are required for the account service you request, they do not require consent under the EU ePrivacy Directive, UK PECR, and similar regulations when used on the dashboard.
4. Functional Local Storage (Interface Preferences)
InkRider uses browser local storage to retain certain interface preferences, for example, your selected color theme (light or dark mode). This data is stored only in your browser and is never transmitted to InkRider's servers. It is not used for analytics, profiling, advertising, or any cross-site tracking purpose.
You can clear local storage at any time through your browser's developer tools (Application > Storage > Local Storage for the InkRider domain) or via the "Clear site data" option in your browser settings. Clearing it will reset any saved preferences to their defaults.
5. Add-In Runtime Storage (JupyterLite Python Environment)
The InkRider Word add-in includes a browser-based Python execution environment powered by JupyterLite. To avoid re-downloading the Python runtime and packages on every use, JupyterLite uses browser-side storage, including Cache Storage and IndexedDB, to cache runtime binaries, packages, and environment state locally within your browser.
This add-in runtime storage is purely technical in nature. It contains downloaded package files and execution state for the in-browser Python environment. It does not contain the content of your Word documents, and InkRider does not transmit this data back to its servers for commercial or analytics purposes.
To clear the add-in's runtime cache, clear the site data for the add-in's host domain in your browser settings. This will cause JupyterLite to re-download the required packages on next use.
6. Third-Party Cookies (Lemon Squeezy Checkout)
When you initiate a purchase or access the billing portal, you will be redirected to or interact with Lemon Squeezy's hosted checkout and billing pages. Lemon Squeezy may set first-party cookies on their own checkout domain for purposes including fraud prevention and detection, payment session management, currency and tax determination, and accessibility of the checkout flow.
Lemon Squeezy's checkout pages operate on Lemon Squeezy's own domain and are governed by Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy and cookie practices. InkRider does not control the cookies set on Lemon Squeezy's domain and takes no responsibility for them.
InkRider does not embed or load Lemon Squeezy tracking scripts or pixels on its own website pages outside of billing checkout flows.
7. Analytics on this marketing website
Optional analytics (such as privacy-oriented web analytics or Google Analytics) are off until you accept them via the cookie settings control on this site. No analytics scripts load before consent. If you reject analytics, we do not load those tools.
Analytics, if enabled, are limited to understanding how visitors use this public website. They do not capture the content of your Word documents or Python code. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings control.
8. Your Choices and Controls
Browser Cookie Settings: Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their privacy or security settings. You can typically: block all third-party cookies; restrict cookies to first-party origins only; delete all stored cookies on browser close; or selectively delete cookies for specific sites. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in to InkRider or using any authenticated feature.
Local Storage: You can clear InkRider's local storage via your browser's developer tools (Application tab > Local Storage) or through the "Clear site data" function in your browser settings for the InkRider domain. This resets stored interface preferences.
Add-In Runtime Cache: Clear cache stored by the add-in's JupyterLite runtime by using the "Clear site data" function for the add-in's host domain in your browser settings.
In-Product Analytics Consent: If analytics are introduced in a future version, you will be able to review and update your consent preference within your InkRider account settings at any time.
Industry Opt-Out Tools: For any future third-party analytics or advertising vendors that participate in industry opt-out frameworks, you may use tools such as youronlinechoices.eu (EU/EEA), the NAI opt-out page (US), or Your Ad Choices (US and global) to opt out of interest-based data collection by participating vendors.
9. Consent and Legal Basis
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (Cookie Directive), the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and similar laws in other jurisdictions, cookies and tracking technologies that are strictly necessary for a service that the user has requested may be placed without consent. Analytics, advertising, and non-essential personalization cookies generally require prior, freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent.
On this marketing website, strictly necessary cookies and functional local storage (for example theme preference) may be used without consent. When optional analytics are enabled for this site, they load only after you accept them via the cookie settings control described in Section 7, so no analytics scripts run before that choice.
Account sign-in, billing, and the InkRider Word add-in are hosted on separate domains with their own cookie and storage practices; those are described in the dashboard account and add-in documentation.
Consent for optional analytics is granular, freely given (refusal does not block essential site features), and revocable at any time through the cookie settings control.
10. Retention of Cookie and Storage Data
Session cookies: Deleted automatically when your browser session ends or when you sign out.
Authentication persistence cookies: Retained for a rolling period determined by the authentication configuration (typically measured in days), allowing you to remain signed in across sessions if that option is used.
Functional local storage (theme preference): Retained until you clear it manually or the application resets it.
JupyterLite add-in runtime cache: Retained indefinitely in your browser until you clear site data for the add-in's domain, as clearing and re-downloading the runtime cache on every session would be impractical.
Third-party cookies (Lemon Squeezy): Retention periods are governed by Lemon Squeezy's policies; InkRider does not control these.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add, change, or remove technologies, or when required to do so by changes in applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you via email or by displaying a notice on the website.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
